Harry's testimony

My dad Harry Hearn came to Elms Haven Nursing Home about four years ago after a fall, having to leave home, his dear wife of almost fifty years, and his family. He was so discouraged and unhappy not to be going home. One day Libby came by to visit my Dad and invited him to come to the Touching Lives service in his care center. My dad started going to the Wednesday night services, and loved it!! He became friends with and was very close to all the volunteer team, and I remember my dad wanted everyone he knew to go with him to the Bible studies.

Over the years, everyone in our family, and many of my dad’s friends, have come to the services, and gotten to know the Touching Lives volunteer team as friends who care!
Touching Lives has been there for my family! My dad came to know Jesus as his Lord and Savior through Touching Lives Ministry! It is awesome how the Lord works and the people He uses. The Lord also used Touching Lives to impact my entire family—Libby baptized my dad and when my brother came home from Iraq the Touching Lives team had a very special welcome home service for him.
Libby officiated my nephew’s wedding, and later officiated a baby dedication for my nephew’s baby daughter. Touching Lives has been very special to my family.

When my dad went home to be with the Lord, Libby was there for us all. Dad called her shortly before he passed into the presence of the Lord Jesus Christ and Touching Lives has been there when we have needed them. Libby did the service for my dad. It was the most wonderful service I have ever been to.
Touching Lives made a very hard time very special. They have been there for my family even after my dad passed away and my mom and I still enjoy going to the Bible studies on Wednesday night. For years my dad wanted my mom to be baptized with him, but after Dad passed, Mom came to know Jesus as her Lord and Savior, and Libby baptized Mom just as she had my dad. I am so grateful to know everyone with Touching Lives Ministry and I thank the Lord everyday for putting them in my life and my family's life. It is to God that we give all the praise and glory and I thank you, Touching Lives. I WILL see my Dad again!

Boots' testimony

As an active Salvation Army Sergeant and Bell Ringer for many years, Boots Hayes was not happy about giving up her independence and apartment to move into a care center. But when she realized God had placed her there to work with Him and help others, her attitude became positive.

Boots was a woman of great faith who loved and followed the Lord Jesus Christ with her whole being. She especially looked forward to the Touching Lives service each week in her facility, and was an active participant in sharing the hope of salvation with others. Boots loved to provide doughnuts or sheet cakes to those who attended service, and would pay staff to make cakes for her to bring and share! She SANG OUT with all her heart, and especially loved Psalm 100 and worshiping God!

Even though she was in her nineties, was blind and deaf in one ear and used a hearing aid in the other ear, her spirit was strong in the Lord Jesus, and she tracked with every message, often prompting the teacher to use a favorite next verse or added a thought to reinforce the message. Despite many physical obstacles and frustrations, God empowered Boots to live with joy and to anticipate life everlasting through Jesus Christ.

Lillian's testimony

I am an 82-year-old woman. I was in rehabilitation at one of the nursing home facilities where Touching Lives has a ministry and service, and I asked for prayer because I had a serious case of cellulitis, inflammation, and swelling in both legs. Pastor Libby and the Touching Lives volunteers prayed for my legs and for the circulation to be healed. The next morning I saw that the swelling had gone down in both legs! AND I could move them freely—praise God! I declared to everyone God healed me, because He did!

I find joy in serving and helping others as the Lord gives strength. I enjoy creating flower arrangements and giving them to other residents and to residents in other facilities where Touching Lives ministers. Most recently I gathered many stuffed animals and the Touching Lives volunteers handed those out to the residents! I thank the Lord for the Touching Lives family.

Arlene's testimony

My sister Arlene was diagnosed with a terminal illness in 2003. In 2007 she became connected with Libby McGahey and Touching Lives through the long-term care facility she called home. Libby and all the Touching Lives volunteers were so helpful, loving, and wonderful to all of the residents who attended services each week. Libby would also visit Arlene in her room on a weekly basis and lift her spirits and comfort her with friendship, love, and prayer. Touching Lives showed my sister the light of God and the true meaning of God’s love when she needed it most.

Bob's testimony

I love the Touching Lives Ministry. I look forward to seeing Libby and her team every week at my assisted living facility; it just makes my week. Libby is such a special person with a heart for people, especially us old folks. She gives a wonderful program and her teaching is always right on. I don't know what I would do without the Touching Lives program in my life right now. It is something I can always count on. I can't say enough good things about Libby and her ministry; I really do love her.

Loretta's testimony

Dad first became aware of the Touching Lives ministry when he was recuperating from a broken hip in 2009 in a rehab facility in Thornton. There was such a genuine interest and concern shown to him and his wife who was at the same facility in the nursing home area. They prayed with him and my step-mom the night before she passed away there.

Six months later Dad moved to assisted living and was delighted to find Libby there each week for services too. At 92 there is not a whole lot to get excited about or look forward to, but Touching Lives is a constant he can always depend on.

The love and concern shown to the residents is such a perfect touch in their lives, and is always well attended. The messages are biblically sound and give a sense of hope and encouragement. The music is fun and enjoyable, bringing back many sweet memories and a chance for everyone to participate. It is apparent that Touching Lives is blessed by God and our family feels so fortunate this ministry is available for Dad and others.
